Welcome

The Power Electronics and Motion Control Council (PEMC-C) is an International Scientific Non-profit Council of mainly Middle European professors and researchers, active in the area of Power Electronics and Motion Control. It was founded on Sept. 3, 1996.

Its headquarter has been in Debrecen, Hungary at the University of Debrecen, Faculty of Engineering since 2023.

The main goal of PEMC-C is to keep organizing International Conferences in the field of Power Electronics and Motion Control circulating in Europe as a direct continuation of a conference series in the field held since 1970 mostly in Budapest. Before the foundation of PEMC-C the International Conferences in the field of PEMC have been organized in every (3-4) years since 1970 by the Hungarian Electrotechnical Association with headquarter in Budapest, Hungary making this Conference series the oldest one in the area in Europe. At present it has representatives from around 20 European countries almost all are members of EU. Most representatives are from Central Europe in PEMC-C.

There is another important Association in Europe in the field of Power Electronics, The European Power Electronics and Drive Association (EPE). It was founded in 1984. It is located in Brussels, subject to Belgian law. The secretariat is located at the Electrotechnical Department of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, hosted by the Royal Belgian Society of Electrical Engineers.

Due to the agreement signed in Prague, Czech Republic, in 1998 between European Power Electronics and Drive Association (EPE) and the PEMC-Council, the PEMC-Council changed its name to EPE-PEMC Council to express their close cooperation. The agreement lasted by 2012 and it has been suspended in 2012. Since then the name again is PEMC-Council.

The main goal of both organizations is to promote and co-ordinate the exchange and the publication of technical, scientific and economic information in the field of Power Electronics and Motion Control. One of the main objectives of cooperation is the integration and unification of Western and Middle Europe in the field of our profession.
