Organizations of Special Sessions

Organizing special sessions is a tradition in the PEMC Conferences. Please find below the information needed for organizing special sessions.

The Local Chairman of the conference provides in the web page of the conference a menu point titled "Call for organizing Special Session". All information needed for the organization should be announced in this menu point. Anyone who would like to be the Chairman for organizing special sessions first kindly asked to contact the Local Chairman of the conference and suggest the title and topic of his/her special session(s). After having the approval of the Local Chairman he can start to organize special sessions. Basically there are two ways for the organization.

The first one is when the organizer knows and able to attract "heavy weight" speakers from all over the world under the same umbrella with his/her favorite subject. It could be very instructive for young participants and for everyone to have a flavor of the twists and turns that e.g. power electronics and drives had, or the state of the art at present or where it is heading to etc. from the most leading professionals such as the organizer and his team. With great warmth and pleasure, you the organizer should invite highly respected professionals to submit a paper to the special session and present the same in personer at the conference.

The second way for the organization is when the Chairman of special session uses the homepage of the conference and its electronic facility to find the right contributors for special sessions. Of course the mixture of this to ways described can be used as well.

The special session must be oral. Altogether four or five papers are needed in one special session. To yield weight and higher respect to the special session, the length of the lectures is 5 minutes longer than the regular ones and the length of the paper can be longer than that of a normal paper. The length of normal oral presentation is 15 minutes.

Regarding the policy for the reviewing process the following rules have to be observed:

  1. All papers be peer reviewed (including keynote and Special Sessions) to insure the compliance with the requirements of IEEE.
  2. All authors need to register using the on-line conference system.
  3. All submissions of paper summaries need to be upload.
  4. All reviewers have to register using the on-line conference system upon personal call. They will be permitted to perform the review only if they are approved by the Local Chairman of the Conference or by the topic chair.
  5. Assigned reviewers have to be independent and experts in the field/topic of a paper summary submission.
  6. A review has to be done ONLY by using the on-line conference system (by answering to the list of questions and giving adequate comments).
  7. All paper summaries need to have at least 3 positive reviews (maximum 5 reviewers will be assigned to each paper).
